Campaign Story
ABOUT ME: Hello, my name is Christian and I am four years old. Although I will be one of the youngest children in my class, I am very brilliant and I have tested well above my age. I have been accepted to one of the top private schools in Tennessee and I will be one of two minority students in the whole kindergarten class. I have received a partial scholarship but my mother still needs assistance with the remaining tuition and after school care costs. My mother has researched scholarships/grants to help her pay for my education but there aren't any available in Tennessee for K-12 private education. My mother works with me every day on reading, spelling, writing, and math. I recently learned how to tie my own shoes and I can already read Stage 1 books. Currently, I am working on money (what it looks like and how much it's worth) and telling time. On Saturdays, my mother and I visit our local farmers market to purchase fresh fruit, vegetables, and homemade chocolate milk. Many people bring their children and dogs as well. I cannot leave without sweet Rubel blueberries, they are my favorite! Since visiting the farmers market, I have even started a garden of my own.
ABOUT MY SCHOOL: I will be entering kindergarten during the 2012-2013 school year. The private school that I have been accepted to offers reading, writing, math, geography, Spanish, French, art, music, and iPad (technology) classes. My teachers use Smart Boards and I will learn to work with them too. I will also learn how to garden. My school day ends later than the public schools do and we do not take naps--which gives me more time to learn during the day.
HEALTHY LUNCH: Christian's school has implemented a farm-to-table dining concept that incorporates the school's dedication to actively teach students to become environmentally friendly consumers while providing healthy, chemical-free food. An organic school garden will supply fresh produce to the dining hall. Students will help plant, maintain and harvest the garden, learning how to live green and care for the earth on a daily basis. The kitchen staff prepares both organic food and locally raised, pasture-fed beef, poultry and pork products that are free of antibiotics, hormones and pesticides. There will be homemade bread and locally grown cheese and produce to supplement what is in the garden. Milk is low-fat and hormone free. My mother can come in anytime and eat lunch with me. As you can see, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me. Many minority children do not get to experience an education like this! I am very excited to go to kindergarten and to meet my new classmates and teachers.
FUNDS: The funds that are donated will be used for my remaining tuition and after school care costs. Any additional funds will be used for my school uniforms and saved for tuition for next year.
THANK YOU: Thank you so much for viewing my page and reading my story. Please help fund my education if you can!

Still Working Hard
Update posted by Christian Houston at 03:50 pmPotential Donors, Christian and I are still working hard on receiving scholarships/grants/donations of some kind. We are continuing to keep our faith and pray that God will answer our prayers and give us the desires of our heart. Last week we ordered a few uniform items to be prepared for
Rebekah, Yes, she is amazing and I am proud to be her mother! Everyone who meets her falls in love with her. Although we have not raised any funds (yet) we are still continuing to pursue donations. Thanks for your support, WookiesMom
