Project insulin

Hello, my name is Karah. I am a Type-1 Diabetic who has been going through a hard patch over the last 2 years. I am insulin dependent and take Lantus Solestar and Novolog Flexpen. I also use a Contour Next Blood Glucose Meter to test my sugar. I also use the usual Pen Needle Tips for my insulin, lancets, alcohol pads and ketosis strips. I'm also prescribed medications for General Anxiety Disorder and Depression.

Times are rough and money is tight. 

I have a laundry list of things I need assistance with. I need my car fixed (fender is falling off, windsheild is cracked, headlight cover is cracked, transmission issues), Paying off Medical Debts (I owe over 5k in medical bills due to my insurance having high cost sharing), Help obtaining medications for my diabetes (I pay a little bit over 400.00 a month for my insulin and diabetic supplies), and thats just the beginning of it.

The company that I work for provides really terrible health benefits. The plan pretty much pays little towards my prescriptions and doctors visits. It makes it really hard to maintain a healthy lifestyle when you're spending almost all your money for medications that keep you alive. It isn't right to work so hard and pay so much, just to live. If I had better coverage, I would not be resorting to this fundraiser. I choose to withhold the name of the company I work for, because it's highly embarrasing since I do work for a health insurance company, too!

I've looked into state-assistance with prescriptions, copayments and medical bills, but unfortunately I make too much money. I guess having diabetes, bills and responsibilites, while having a good paying job, they don't take everything into consideration. I literally go without insulin sometimes, just to make it stretch! I've talked to my phamacist and asked for discount cards and coupons. I've used these before, but my monthly costs for medications and supplies still are over $400 a month. 

It would be amazing if you could just donate $1. Imagine all the money you waste on a daily basis, buying lunch/snacks/drinks out, throwing change in a purse or in a jar. If everyone was able to donate just $1 of their money, it would greatly help. Every little bit helps. I'm asking for help right now because I've drained my savings, I'm living pay check to pay check, and I am barely getting by. I'm also considering another job, and selling items I own on Ebay. I'm just trying to get as much help as I can (and trust me I've have family help me with my bills, RX costs and other things).
