South African EDventure International Volunteer Program

Hello!

My name is Katie, and I am currently a freshman at the University of Houston studying business. Before starting college, I had never really considered just how much one person can change the world. However, a few weeks into my first semester, a once in a lifetime opportunity arose. An Australian volunteer program called EDventure International came to my campus looking for students eager to serve internationally. One of my dreams for as long as I can remember has been to go to Africa. When I saw that EDventure had a program traveling to South Africa, I knew it was my destiny to join them! EDventure's South African Program is a three week long program where I will be able to make a difference by volunteering. Helping others and preserving our world’s environment are both important goals to me. The first week of the program I will be working with local tribes in dire need of assistance, mainly with socioeconomic development of infrastructure, health, and education. The second week of the program I will be doing conservation work in Africa's amazing game parks. The last week I will be going on a road-trip across South Africa, partaking in high adventure activities, and staying with a different tribe every night, experienceing total cultural immersion. In my opinion, the best feeling in the world is being able to help someone else and to have made a difference, making the world a better place.

Participation in this worthwhile program comes with significant financial costs for travel and accomodations. I am seeking sponsors to help defray some of these costs. Please consider helping me raise the necessary funds to make this trip possible.
