Funds are needed to complete the construction of these cheetah camps and to help in breeding these amazing cats before it is too late!!
The Cheetah (Achinoyx Jubastus)
The known cheetah population is approximately 7,500 adult animals. Additional areas where cheetah status is poorly known are unlikely to raise the total to over 10,000. Given Myers (1975) estimate of 15,000 cheetahs in Africa in the 1970s, a decline of at least 30% is suspected over the past 18 years (3 generations). The decline is primarily due to habitat loss and fragmentation, as well as killing and capture of cheetahs as livestock depredators, primarily, as well as for trade (IUCN Cats Red List Workshop 2007).
Reasons why the Cheetah is threatened with extinction
• Reduced ability to survive in protected areas due to presence of bigger predators like lion and hyena. • Loss of habitat and decrease of prey • Conflict with game farmers over livestock • Fragmentation of population leading to inbreeding and number depletions • Public lack of knowledge • Lack of self-sustaining captive population
Cheetah Conservation Alliance Project
Symba Wildlife Conservation will be partnering with the Daniell Cheetah Breeding Project by rebuilding the current cheetah enclosures on the at the DCP.
The enclosures will be suited and built specifically to allow movement of the cheetahs between enclosures to swap the mating couples which further allows the DCP to expand their breeding project. The CCAP is an alliance between the SWC-SA and the DCP which will remain active for at least three years and aims to promote the conservation, responsible breeding and public education about the cheetah in South Africa.

We have raised a total of $575.00 towards our $3000 goal so far. If every one of our friends would donate just $6.40 (about 1 Starbucks' coffees) we would be able to meet this goal and earn the additional $3000 from our anonymous challenge donor. While we almost hate to do this to all our new friends, we are in the middle of a fundraising challenge that ends on 30 September, 2013.

As the founder and true believer in this cause, I will be the first donor. Come on SWC Family and Animal Advocates, who will follow for this worthy cause?
