On the road again

Update posted by Carmen AndFriends

A little less than a month ago, we completed a very successful fundraiser to assist with the purchase of a handicap accessible vehicle for Carmen. Carmen's parents were able to match the $8,000 you all contributed, lowering the cost of Carmen's new van by $16,000. Do you have any idea how fabulous that is?!

Because Carmen is only able to have the modifications paid for once in her lifetime, her family decided to get the most bang for their buck and buy a brand spankin' new vehicle that would have better gas mileage and be less likely to break down in the future. Carmen's new van is a silver 2012 Chrysler Town & Country. It cost $32,559.46, but (thanks to you!) $16,000 of that is already paid for.

And let me tell you--this van is NICE. Here are some of the features: Bluetooth, UConnect (talk to the van and it'll play an artist etc.), a 40 GB harddrive for music and movies, a rear passenger DVD player, back-up camera, leather seats, heated mirrors (this is especially amazing for Carmen because it's very difficult for her to clear off the vehicle in bad weather), stow and go seats, and remote entry/starter. Carmen will be traveling in style.

Don't worry--I have more good news for you: Michigan Rehabilitation Services paid for the modifications in full. That's right: 6-way power base driver's seat. SureGrip (Push/Rock) hand controls. Detachable spinner knob. Lowered Floor. Auto-folding Ramp. Kneeling System. $28,111.00 of equipment for absolutely free.

Carmen gets to drive herself home for the first time in almost 7 months this Friday. That also means that we'll be working on getting your rewards designed, finalized, produced, and shipped out within the next two months! Once again, thank you from all of us; we couldn't have done this without you!
