It is January 6th and it looks as though this will be our last night at Nemours Children's Hospital in Orlando. Thirty days with a wonderful team of doctors, residents, interns, nurses, therapists, and support staff to which we are forever grateful. Two more therapy sessions in the morning and we hope to be discharged by lunchtime.

Also, a huge thank you to the Ronald McDonald House of Central Florida for their kindness, generosity, and support. In addition to the staff and volunteers, we have met some wonderful families whose strength has been so very inspiring!

Ari has progressed as much as she can at this point. She will see her neurosurgeon at Wolfson Children’s Hospital in Jacksonville the last week of January to determine if she is ready to have her halo removed. Once scheduled, it will be her third surgery. She will need to return to Nemours Orlando after removal for the final fitting of her custom leg brace that is still being constructed.

She still has much therapy yet to face but it will be on an outpatient basis. Without the halo, Ari will be able to balance more naturally and her therapy will accommodate a more real-life environment than that of living in a hospital setting.
