Today marks 1 whole month since Achmat was first admitted to hospital.

He has managed to fight off the infections that were most worrisome to the doctors. He is finally off the ventilator and breathing on his own.

He has been seen by a neurologist, physio, and speech therapist in addition to the ICU doctors, whom all agree that the movements he does exhibit currently, are involuntary. He is technically still in a coma, but not as severe as it was a couple of weeks ago.

Now that his vitals are stable, they are considering moving him to the rehabilitation facility next week where his recovery therapy will become more intensive. We were warned that he won't wake up as the Achmat we know and love, so that's why it is important to start this next step in his road to recovery as he has suffered some brain damage.
