**********************************************************************************************************************
pasado.
Puedo sentirlo, saborearlo y sentirlo a mi
alrededor.
he estado repitiendo como mantra.
y presion a 17.
Rosa y yo

No surgió nada.
No conozco
coraje, ¡y amamos a nuestro hijo!
Comparta esta
actualización con tantas personas como pueda. Estamos agradecidos.

The following in English
********************************************************************************************************************
Hello to all, family, friends and all of you that are also supporting us. Aurelio is continuing to mature, exhibiting a strong desire to live, though he is still very fragile. Rosa and I continue to be in awe with Aurelios strength, integrity and persevance. For Rosa and I, this is the most challenging experience that either of us has ever gone through. I am very surprised with how much fear I have felt. As many of you know I was a rock climber, mountaineer, volunteer firefighter/EMT, created and ran a successful business, and in my life know the feeling of being without money. I look back and see that I took pride in that I never had fear. This experience seeing Aurelio fighting to live and being helpless in helping him directly (I have practiced some acupressure on him) has brought a feeling of fear to my core. I can feel it, taste it, and have felt it all around me. It has been as challenging as anything I have encountered to not succumb to the fear, to breath, have faith and stay present, positive and trust in the presence of God/Dios(a), Creator. Thank you God.
There has been one piece of advice that I have personally received, from my mother, that I have been repeating as a mantra. Stay focused and do whatever is best for our baby. Rosa and I have been staying true to that. Today this sense of fear is still there but it is much less intense. There is so much to be grateful for. I ask that you please read this whole update to understand how Aurelio is progressing, the direction we have taken with where Aurelio is staying, and details regarding our home, the costs and our payments. Thank you all again for all your support and love.
How is Aurelio?
In our last update we shared that Aurelio received a blood transfusion. He has integrated my blood very well. His skin tone is back to being healthy and with good color tone. Two days after receiving the blood transfusion he started to have copious amounts of mucous coming from his lungs. He has been intubated since birth and is on a ventilator. His lungs before the transfusion were assisted with 40% oxygen and pressurized at 17. The medical team had to raise the oxygen at times to 100% and pressurized to 19. They believed that Aurelio had an infection in his lungs. The gave him two antibiotics they believed would help and took a culture to be sure which takes a few days to determine. The lead doctor told us that the infection was due to Aurelio being ventilated for all this time. They found out from the culture 2 days later that it was a different bacteria and has given a different antibiotic. These last few days were very critical with the doctors and nurses be on alert to assist his breathing which had they had to do many times. The recent antibiotic appears to be effective and he is now looking more comfortable and they are now giving him 60% oxygen and pressured at 15. They are expecting to be able to lower both consistently during these next few days. As for his digestion and weight. It is still slowly improving. He started at 820g and now he is 1.21 kg. It is interesting in that premature babies first grow in length and then start putting on more muscle and fat. He is looking tall for his weight and appears a bit less fragile. The last time we saw him he opened his eyes and then went back to sleep. He has gone through a lot in such a short time and is continuing to improve.
Location issues for Aurelio’s care
We were initially open to have Aurelio be transported to a public hospital. The general hospitals are free and the insurance hospitals cost only 1200 pesos per month ($60usd) for a whole family. Their prenatal intensive care units are actually quite sufficient. Rosa and I both are mexican citizens and therefore we have access to these benefits. Rosa and I were open to transporting Aurelio to these hospitals. However we found that their protocols do not allow Aurelio to be admitted in their prenatal intensive care unit. He would be admitted only into the pediatric unit. These hospitals only receive babies into their prenatal intensive unit that were born in that hospital to keep the possibilities of infection down. The pediatric unit accepts all ages of children. These are very busy, so Aurelio would be prone to more types of infection, loud and disruptive noises (which causes a lot of stress for premature babies) and would be primarily cared for by pediatrician doctors and nurses which are not specialized in premature babies. Rosa and I did not want to put Aurelio into this kind of risk even if it meant risking losing our home.
We have found that the hospital in Tepic has two prenatal intensive care units where one would accept babies from other hospitals! We have been accepted at the Tepic Prenatal Intensive Care Unit and Aurelio is 2nd on the list! Our lead doctor assumes that it should not take more than two weeks for a bed to become available! Though he emphasized that there are no promises on when. Being able to transport Aurelio also depends on his current stability. When a bed opens Aurelio would need to be stable at that time. If he is not, the hospital would not wait and go to the next baby on the list. Today he is stable enough to transport and we pray that he continues to improve.
Finances:
Summary:
After deductions we have received
$6,200 usd from the gogetfunding campaign
$11,000 from family outside of gogetfunding and
approximately $2,000 from outside donations,
totaling $19,200 dollars!
total medical costs are 844, 641 pesos or $41,480 usd.
Today we owe 453,600
pesos or $22,280 usd
We anticipate 2 more weeks of stay before transportation, which adds 532,000 pesos or $26,250 usd to our coste
stimated transportation cost for Aurelio to Tepic Hospital Is 28,000 pesos or $1,400usd
Therefore we anticipate that our total medical costs will be 1,404,650 pesos or $69,000 usd.
Details:
Ricardo signed a guarantee to the Hospital for using our home as collatoral to pay for Aurelio’s medical bills within 6 months. We have incurred 678,641 pesos or $33,330 usd from the CMQ hospital which includes a 15% discount. Our lawyer and notary (both offering there services for free) while reviewing the hospital’s contract responded that it is the most generous contract they have seen from a hospital. We are very grateful to the hospital for caring for our child, offering us a 15% discount, and giving us time to pay without interest. The costs are continuing to accrue every additional day Aurelio is in the CMQ Hospital and is part of the guarantee that Ricardo has signed.
We also owe 6000 pesos or $300 usd per day for doctor payments which are separate than hospital bills totaling, after 23 days, 138,000 pesos or $6,900 usd. We have not received the bill from the Doctor team as of today. When we get it we will post it.
And the cost of the doctor’s bill for delivery of Aurelio was 28,000 pesos or $1,375 usd.
So, as of today our total medical costs are 844,641 pesos or $41,605 usd.
We have received 135,700 pesos or $6,665 usd in donations from the gogetfunding campaign fundraiser website. There is a 6.9% total fee which brings the gogetfunding available donations to 126,350 pesos or $6,205 usd.
Our immediate family has paid 215,000 pesos to the hospital and 9000 pesos to the gynecologist, totalling 224,000 pesos or $11,000 usd
We have received
40,600 pesos or $2,000 from outside donations,
totaling 391,000 pesos or $19,205 dollars!
Thank you all for helping us.
Today we still owe
453,600 pesos or $22,4000 usd.
Anticipated future costs:
Our lead doctor has said that from his experience Aurelio being second on the list should be admitted into another hospital within two weeks, 14 days. Using past expenses we are averaging about 38,000 pesos per day or $1875usd per day. Using this daily cost average we will accrue an addition 532,000 pesos or $26250 usd before we leave CMQ hospital and 22,000 pear or $1,400usf to transport Aurelio which equals a total of 1,398,650 pesos or $68,000 usd that we will need to pay CMQ Hospital and doctors. We have adjusted the goal for this fundraising campaign as a response to believing that Aurelio will be able in the Tepic Prenatal Intensive Care Unit by September 9th.
With the donations we have received we will be needing to raise an additional 1,007,500 pesos or $49,800usd.
Ok, a little on the “lighter” side:
We would like to share a little about Aurelio’s name and the timing of his birth. Rosa and I believe all life is precious and has value. We are sharing the following to add another perspective to Aurelio’s presence and feel like it is interesting and fun. As we share this we see Aurelio as a gift as all other babies as well.
Rosa was hesitant for us to name our son. She intuitively felt like she wanted him to have a say in his name. At first she said, “let’s see if his name comes in one of our dreams”. Nothing came up. Then about two weeks before his birth Rosa asked me to meditate and ask what his name should be. I agreed to try. So, one morning while Rosa was resting I put my hands on her belly and asked God and our son what name he should be called. After some time, my mind became quiet, and then some time later, I saw the letters Aurelio. I do not personally know anyone by that name or had ever thought of Aurelio as a name for our son. Later that morning I shared this with Rosa. I could see that Rosa was surprised and a little shaken by what I said. She then shared that at thet time she was thinking about the name Aurelio and tried to recollect, with difficulty someone with that name. So, both of us independently though of the name Aurelio. Aurelio means golden or resplendant.
He was born August 3rd, just a couple of days that is considered in the middle of summer. He was scheduled to be born late October which is Libra the libra sign. He was born a Leo, which is similar to the end of his name. The number 3, day of his birth, is related to the 3rd chakra, associated with the solar plexus, color yellow, and the fire element. Adding all his number together 3,8,2021 equals 16 which then adds to 7 which in the Akasha numerology relates to the Auric body, again part of his name.
And, he was born 12:05pm, the sun at the highest point of the day.
He is full of light, fire, courage, and we love our son!
Please share this update with as many people as you can. We are thankful.
