Support: First Batch

Update posted by Ashesh Shrestha

42 people who had tested COVID positive in the village were distributed medicine and safety kit in their own homes by health personnel and volunteers. A repeated test on 27 May 2021 showed they were all COVID free. Recently, of 18 people who went for PCR test, none showed COVID positive.

The health personnel are also doing home visits among people who have not yet got their PCR tested but are identified to have been in their sick beds to look for symptoms and check vitals with the oximeters and other tools handed over to the health post and Aayurved.

We had bought medicines enough for 50 people, and PPE sets for people on the ground with 500 USD. Those were transported through ambulance to the village.

Our friends in the village handed them over to the health post and helped the health post in identifying the homes in which corona patients were isolating, packing those medicines and handing over those medicines to those 42 houses, along with in-person consultations by authorized health professionals.

Youths on the ground and monitoring situation and local clubs are activated. A local club offered transportation support to one critical COVID patient to travel to Civil Hospital in Kathmandu. Local clubs have been activated and people are coming forward with support like food for families who are unable to work in the fields and cook for themselves because of the disease, with a vehicle for people to go to the PCR centre, a holding centre with 3 oxygen beds. We have rounds of meetings with local youths and youths in Kathmandu to make the process accountable, safe and to continue finding ways to make best use of the funds we have collected

Now we are working to get more medicines, more PPE sets for volunteers on ground. As hospitals in cities are already burdened, we need to prevent the spread and worsening of COVID patients' health by acting locally. We have arranged for a doctor to provide counselling to the families over phone and video chats to the people in the village who are isolating in their own homes.

Thank you very much for your support from different parts of the globe, and for helping act locally and control spread in villages.
