Ryders 1st Surgery a success!!!

Update posted by Shanelle Partridge

Just been in to see Ryder today, she is looking a lot better. More colour in her skin although heavily sedated. Today the vets did surgery to reconstruct her broken leg as well as align her dislocated hip. The hip was cut and put in place with a bolt. Her broken leg procedure didn't go so well. Upon opening in surgery the leg has been completely shattered. We had to opt for a pin, screws and wire to hold it together. While not the best option, it was one of our only options.

This means a longer recovery. Before surgery they gave her a quick check on bloods, turns out her protein levels were very low, because of the time between Easter when her accident took place and now, she required 2 x bags of plasma.

However the good news is we have made it past this stage. Once Ryder comes out of sedation we will be able to tell more about her neurological function in both legs. Check bloods again to get her vitals up and see what we are looking at. A win for today but still not quite there.

Thank you to all those that have donated so far, so grateful for your support,

Keep you posted,

Shanelle
