Nursing Home

Update posted by andrew hall

Hi everyone.

Thank you all for your help so far. Between the funding and cash donations we have passed 200,000 baht.

Flying is proving very difficult, as the doctor wants to be sure that the thrombosis has totally cleared. We are still keeping this as Josh's main preference, but the cost may in the end prove to be too prohibitive. The immediate problem is that Josh needs 24 hour care. Poo is doing a great job, but she is hardly sleeping, and almost never gets out of the house. Josh is totally bed bedridden and cannot sit up in bed. She nurses him, keeps him clean, feeds him and supports his mood swings. She needs help.

So I did some research and contacted a nursing home in Bangsare. The manager (a lovely lady) came to visit Josh and Poo at home, and will be happy to have Josh at the home. He will have a private room, equipped with TV and very importantly a hospital bed so that they can raise him as much as possible for feeding and visitors.

There is also a separate bed for Poo who can stay over as often as she wants. She will also be able to interact with the hospital staff and other patients. There are two Dutch men staying there already.

There is 24 hour nursing, so Poo will be able to go out a little more often, and when she needs to she will be able to sleep at home. They have a wheelchair that is in the upright position for people who can't sit, so Josh could go into the day-room if he desires company.

It is also very easy to visit from Pattaya. The nursing home is Z Breeze Nursing Home . It is in Bangsare. A Bolt Taxi from Pattaya costs just 160 baht.

I just left Josh and Poo now, both in good spirits. The nursing home will pick him up tomorrow afternoon at 2pm.

The cost of the nursing home is 40,000 baht per month. If travel isn't possible to Holland, the fund will cover the costs of the nursing home, aided by Josh's family in holland, and his and Poo's own personal savings.

Josh's two sisters in Holland are in regular contact with Josh and with myself also. They are totally supportive whether Josh returns home or stays in Thailand. They will travel here, Covid willing, if he stays. His sisters are both in their seventies.

I am looking forward to visiting Josh on Monday at the home, and will further update then.

Thank you all again for your help.

Andy
