My Mother & I

Update posted by Chin Hong Toh

Please help share.

This is my mother. Ng Sing Yeang. She is 73 this year and was diagnosed with Stage 4 Thyroid Cancer.

Initially, according to government run Klinik Kesihatan, she had hyperthyroidism. The brilliant doctors there merely prescribed her with meds and never considered other conditions that could arise for someone her age and sex.

She took the meds, developed high blood pressure and shortness of breath. Despite these, the doctors again reduced it to just side effects of thyroid medications.

Later on, she developed persistent cough that lead to bloody sputum and eventually respiratory arrest.

The cancer was already spreading, invading her trachea and lungs. Finally, after being warded, mom was asked to go for CT Scan. By then, it was already Stage 4.

She doesn't have diabetes or high blood pressure. No smoking or drinking. Yet, she somehow got the worst kind of cancer. The rarest of rare, with only 1% of all recorded thyroid cancers.

It's extremely aggresive and little is known about why it happens. Still, mom fights on.

There are potential treatments out there that could prolong her life. But I can't afford it.

I want to ask for help but I don't know how or where to turn to. I am willing to do anything if it means giving my mom a fighting chance.

Please tell me where to turn to. Or who. I can't standby and watch my mother suffer needlessly.

If I could ask for one thing, please help share this post in the hope that it reaches a kind soul who can help my mom.

She is the nicest person and beloved by many. She doesn't deserbe this fate.

Please help.
