The end

Update posted by Sasa Caksiran

Dear colleagues and friends,

We came to the end of this campaign. We were not able to raise enough money to fund the whole house by ourselves, but even this amount is very generous and will be very helpful.

We decided to help one family from Petrinja as their house (address: Sisačka ulica 15, Petrinja) is severely damaged and it's marked for demolition. The family consists of 6 members, single father and 5 sons. The mother left the family few years ago and has almost no contact with the kids. Father's name is Slavko Zgurić and sons are Stjepan (24), Mario (21), Matej (17), Antonio (15) and Valentino (13). As their home was occupied during the War in Croatia in early '90s, Slavko was also actively defending Croatia.

At the moment, part of the family stays in a very old and small house and the other part in a mobile house, positioned next to that house.

Their house will be demolished very soon as it's bigger than neighbouring houses and there is high probability that it could collapse and destroy those homes also.

Initial phase of the new house is already prepared. It will be smaller than the actual one, but it should be spacious enough to accommodate the whole family. 'The project leader' is Mr. Saša Osenički, big humanitarian who has already proven himself even before the earthquake hit. On 23rd February, he has just received the award "Ponos Hrvatske" (Pride of Croatia) for his generous work and effort to help the ones in the need. He is our 'man of thrust'. He managed to organise almost all the required funds and work force needed for this project. You can follow his efforts also through a Facebook page 'Svi za 53nju' as we won't be able to update you through this campaign on further progress.

After the GoGetFunding's fee will be deducted, we managed to raise 3638.92 EUR. All those funds will be transferred in the next few days for the above mentioned project.

We are extremely grateful for all your support and help and I hope that Zgurić family will have the home they deserve as soon as possible.

Thank you veeeeeery much!!!
