Libingstone's "Harry Mwanga Nkumbula" International Airport (LVI) to recommence flights in July.

Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport Manager Vivian Sikanyela says international airlines will resume flights into Livingstone next month.

Speaking when Southern Province Minister Edify Hamukale toured the international airport on Saturday, Mr. Sikanyela says Zambia Airports Corporation Limited management has written to airline operators informing them that the airport has reopened for international fights following the directive by President Lungu.

He says the airport management has started carrying out maintenance works in order to conform to the World Health Organization (WHO) Covid-19 prevention guidelines.

And Dr. Hamukale says the provincial administration is in solidarity with the directive given by the Head of State.

He says the decision to reopen international airports will have a positive impact on the tourism sector.

Meanwhile, Livingstone District Health Director Faceroy Nkole says his office has deployed enough health personnel at the international airport.
