Simba Morri Update Number 1

Update posted by Bill Botes

It’s been just over a week and a bit since we launched the Shifty Simba Fund to assist with the medical expenses of one of the most humble and gentle souls you’d ever wish to meet. Those who know him will know that his music reflects his state of being: positive, vibrant and joyful. It is infinitely danceable and mood enhancing.

To showcase this, we’ve spent the last couple weeks delving into the Shifty archive, pulling together a Simba live album. Tracks date from his days with the band Mapantsula in 1986, up until and including his appearance at the Shifty Music Heritage concert of 2014.

“Live - Simba Morri" will launch this Friday 3rd July on Bandcamp specifically to take advantage of their 1st Fridays “no fees” deal. It will be priced at $10, which isn’t the cheapest, but all money goes straight into the fund - no-one takes a cut. So if you desire to contribute, but haven't yet, here’s a great way to do so. A reminder that this fund will remain active post Simba’s emergency specifically for future such emergencies involving Shifty musicians.

Simba profusely thanks (we mean, like, really really profusely) all that have contributed to the fund, which sits presently at around R40000. All of you will receive a complimentary "Live - Simba Morri” upload code, plus another little something from both the Maasai maestro and ourselves as a thank you for spreading the love. Simba is currently in good spirits and is scheduled to go into hospital on Monday 6th for his kidney issues to be addressed.
