Update posted by Africa Action Network

The AAN Network has set a 2021 goal of reaching 11 African countries with projects for production

and distribution of reusable face masks to nurses and other health care workers. At present AAN has

approved and is running projects in Uganda, Malawi, and Rwanda. Project proposals are being

prepared by trusted collaborators in additional countries, among them Zambia, Somalia, and Sudan.

Phase two projects will be considered for those countries that made and distributed reusable face

masks in 2020.

Africa is experiencing a surge in Covid-19 infections, placing a heavy burden on health care systems

that are not as robust as those in developed countries. Vaccination plans are being designed and

rolled out, but the continued need for face masks is vital.

Please continue your contributions to our funding campaign. Every mask counts and saves lives – of

nurses, health care workers, patients and guardians.
