Gerrit & Toni Van Der Westhuizen are expecting the arrival of their first child Hans. Baby Hans will need surgery right away after birth because he has a condition called Gastroschisis. He may need to stay in the ICU for atleast 1-3 months, depending on his condition. Gastroschisis is a birth defect of the abdominal (belly) wall. The baby's intestines are found outside of the baby's body, exiting through a hole beside the belly button. The birth and operation will take place at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital in Durban on the 29th May 2020.
