Help Physically Challenged Cricketers in INDIA

Update posted by Harley Medcalf

Our organisation is well structured Organisation. Our Trust is named Physically Challenged Cricket Association of India (Regd.) We have our Organisation in 28 states of India with nearly 6000 total players associated with us. Every State Association has nearly 200 players with them. Apart from organising different tournaments for nearly 6000 disabled players of our Organisation, we also regularly hold cricket camps for them. We start for with State Associations and then take matters at Zonal levels.

But this pandemic situation has really become a nightmare for all our players, especially those with poor background and living in remote areas of the country. The India Government has declared a complete lockdown, meaning, that no one is allowed to come out of their respective homes.

Nearly 4000 of our players have a poor economic condition and do not have a regular source of income. Cricket and activities related to it was their only source of income. Though, the Government has announced certain schemes whereby, they are able to get needed ration and medicines, but financially they have been thrown in deep waters.

We as a parent body, are trying to help as many people as we can, but even our resources are proving to be very limited. For our members in and around New Delhi, we are personally in touch with them to solve their daily needs, but for people in other remote places we are finding ourselves helpless.

We are on an endeavour to support these 4000 players financially and have decided to give them a minimum amount of Rs 10,000 for three months. But right now, the disease has taken a heavy toll on the economics of our main sponsors as most of the CSR money has gone to the PM CARES fund. But still we are trying our level best to help our players in these testing times.
