Wilbur had appointments this week with a cardiologist, a dermatologist and a surgeon. The good news is that Wilbur's heart is healthy! His blood work also looked good, so he is cleared for future surgery. There was also positive news regarding Wilbur's ear, as it was determined that surgery is not needed at this time. However Wilbur does need brachycephalic surgery to improve Wilbur's labored breathing and prevent the problems he has with aspiration of food. This will be a more difficult procedure than usual because of complications related to the improper soft palate surgery done when Wilbur was much younger. Surgery will be scheduled for early next week, and the fundraising goal had been adjusted to reflect the revised estimate.
