February 2020 update

Update posted by James Ryan Harper

We are overwhelmed by the generous response from our family, friends, and acquaintances. Thank you!

In just a few weeks we have crowd-funded well over HK$500,000 and concerned people are organising fundraisers for Finn. The HKGAA/Irish community/Delaney's hosted a table quiz that was sold out and a wonderful opportunity to see a lot of friends who we hadn't seen since this mess started.

Finn's granny came to visit from Canada for 5 weeks and made sure he ate and exercised. Finn lapped it up like a true invalid would. We had to remind him that there was nothing wrong with his legs! We were all so happy to have her and can't wait for her to come back.

After two cycles of chemo Finn had a PET scan in early February which revealed that the main tumor and smaller areas were shrinking somewhat. We had a big party the night we found that out!

He is now in his third cycle of chemo and is currently on a 6-day stint in HKCH. Painful mouth ulcers have kept him quiet for 3 days, but he has recovered today and is feeling happier. His spirits are good; he has a computer, charger, and wifi code; and has decided to take up a light exercise routine in the hospital which has resulted in several lengths of the 100 m corridor each day plus some arm and core strength work from the comfort of his bed.

There is still a very long way to go. Finn has come out ahead in the first round, and the second round is feeling strong.

Thank you all for your warm thoughts.
