As I write this, Artemis is sleeping soundly next to me. I can’t thank you all enough for all the love, the messages of concern and support, and all the help you have given Mimi and my family.

I’ve cried with many of you, and it touches me that many of you have prayed for and thought of my daughter, and reached out to tell me so. Everyday I had messages from friends and family. I never felt alone. Special and heartfelt thanks to my sisters Asia and Jasmine and my dad Daniel who have been fundraising nonstop, and my lovely Lima family Joyce, and Amaya, Rocio, Andrea, Sarah, Gemma, Louise, Jenny and the Lima mommies. To the FLB girls To Haydee, who didn’t know me at all and came by to donate blood for Mimi. To my uncles Gus, and Alfred for their generous hearts. To Enrico and Dionne for sound advice and daily check-ins. So many of you I can’t even tag you all.

So many people have contributed to the fund to bring Mimi home. I will be forever grateful.

It means so much to be able to be with her, and to have her safe and sound here at home with me and my mom, who her grandkids call Mima. Mimi and Mima and me, Mama! It cracks me up! We’re a bit of an alliterative family here in Lima.

Thank you for all your help.

I have a prescription for iron drops, and an order for a peripheral blood test because she has a form of anemia. She has follow ups with specialists including a neurologist, nephrologist and endocrinologist, scheduled after a follow up with her pediatrician.

It will be a challenging road ahead, we’re still waiting on some results to see if there are metabolic conditions other than the anemia.

We will have to monitor her development to see if there are any long-term effects from the meningitis and those need more tests too.

Artemis is a warrior, like the goddess we named her for, and I’m sure we will get through it together.
