Go Mimi

Update posted by Asia Maris Aportadera

Hello everyone. I’m so happy to say Mimi is doing so much better, and most of her tests are coming back normal. She’s responding well to her antibiotic treatment, and is off her feeding tube.

Our fight isn’t over yet. Mimi needs more specialists to come and check to see if there are any possible long term effects, and more tests coming up. She’s a trooper, and is starting to show her sassy personality again.

Mimi has got a hands-on team that watch her 24-7, and care deeply for her. Right now her prognosis is good but we don’t know how long she will stay in the NICU to finish treatment. She had an EEG last Saturday and her lumbar puncture yesterday, and her results are good. Her sodium and potassium and glucose levels are back to normal, and her blood platelet count is up! She’s really rallying and getting better every day.

We’re so fortunate to have a team of angels here in Peru that have volunteered their time and love for Mimi. I couldn’t be more humbled and grateful. My family hasn’t left my side since Day 1, and they’re doing everything they can to help.

She is so blessed to have all of you praying, rooting for, and supporting her battle. I am so blessed and touched by your messages of support.

It’s been tough here but I know God is good, and He’s been with us every step of the way. Mama Mary hasn’t left her side since she was born. I’m so grateful for the oceans of love you have shown her. Thank you.
