Chelsey's Fundraiser
Update posted by Mickie DavisChelsey's Story
Chelsey is an amazing and unbelievably strong woman. She has a beautiful mind and the biggest heart. She has taught herself how to play the guitar and ukulele. She is an extreme lover of music. She has the ability to put words to paper that will absolutely mesmerize you. She has an amazing voice and can draw and paint incredibly. She is a free spirit and a very loving and caring mother, daughter and friend. Once you meet Chelsey, you are drawn to her and want to be in her presence.
Over the past 15 years or so, Chelsey has dealt with some mental issues and life situations that were very difficult for her to get through. She started to make choices and decisions that have led us to this point. Since then, Chelsey has been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and she suffers from depression and anxiety. Chelsey also has been diagnosed with PTSD. She has also struggled with being an addict since then, as well. She has been a user of opiates since the age of 13. The addiction in itself has been real for Chelsey and has consumed her. These are all things that she fights to overcome every moment of every day. Chelsey has never sold drugs at any point.
As of Friday, October 18, 2019, Chelsey was indicted for 2nd Degree Murder of her beloved best friend, Brandon McDuffie, whom she loved very dearly. If you know Chelsey, or us as her family, you know that Brandon was not only a dear friend to her, but a very beloved member of our entire family. Our prayers and thoughts go out to his family.
The charges, according to Sumner County, are being made to send a message to other drug users according to the D.A. Prior to Chelsey's arrest, she was enrolled in a Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Program in Nashville. Since Chelsey’s arrest, there have been five girls that have overdosed in the Sumner County Jail. We pray for their families. However, for this reason, we feel it is vital to seek immediate treatment for Chelsey's co-occurring disorders.
A settlement hearing is scheduled for January 16, 2020. We, as her family, are asking for help in her need of representation for her plea of innocence. We are reaching out for donations, legal support, and prayers. Please, in advance, accept our complete gratitude and humbleness for your kindness. May God bless you all.
Chelsey’s next court date will be Thursday, September 10th, 2020. Please continue to have her in your prayers and thoughts.
