Visited this evening

Update posted by Althea Mason

Today we had the MRI report reviewed by an Orthopaedic consultant in London. The good news is that surgery is not needed, however, for a good recovery. he requires the correct nursing care and treatment during this critical stage. We have ordered a neck brace that should fit him properly and tomorrow pick up a mattress that will help alleviate pressure areas. Today I took him two fans. one that plugs in and one hand held one. (for visitors to hold for him, it sprays water as the blades turn. He loved it) He cannot lift his hands, but he can move his fingers on his right hand. I'm hoping to find some sheepskin products tomorrow to help with comfort. We are looking at getting extra nursing care for him (like a nurse assistant who can be of continual help with his basic needs) as he can do nothing for himself.

Bless him he didn't complain about anything and is amazed that people he doesn't know want to help him. It looks like we will be regular visitors at the hospital for a few months. We are hoping to get him a different into a different room. However, that is up to the Dr.

Thank you to everyone who is making a difference in the care provided for him.
