Dreams of Dancing on the World Stage

Update posted by Zlatka Mavrova

Non Profit Organisation Dance Centre La Familia needs your support in getting our gifted girls to the top international dancing competitions for 2020.

“It’s a classic tale of talented dancers who cannot get to the World Cup because their parents can’t afford to send them.”

The Kids and Junior dancers also know as the Chicas del Mambo need of your help to accomplish their dreams of competing in a world-class dance competition based around their dance style, the World Latin Cup 2020. They are the only dance troupes in Bulgaria to specialize in the On2 salsa style , also known as the “New York” style, and the only competition that is specialized for their particular style is the World Latin Dance Cup.

It is held annualy in either the United States of America or in South America because of the larger community of dancers who train in this technique. It’s in Miami this coming year which is a long way from Plovdiv, Bulgaria! However, they will need to work hard and make sure they are in top shape for all the qualifying they will need to do to get there.

Another competition that is a bit closer to home is the Dance World Cup 2020 (European), which they have competed in 2018. But this one does not specialize in On2 salsa, which is their ultimate dream – to be able to compete with other dancers in the same style of dance.

These strong teams do their best when they can compete together. While their parents are able to fund their regular dancing fees and training uniforms, only a few they can finance their dreams of competing on an international level. Cost cover, qualification taxes, elaborate dance outfits, and the biggest expense – travel and accommodation. Financial reasons are the only thing stopping these phenomenal dancers from achieving their goals. It’s a classic tale of talented dancers who cannot get to the World Cup because their parents can’t afford to send them.

The Juniors’ dance success!

These two teams of exceptionally talented girls are born champions! Their achievements in the last 2 years are:

Finalists in national competitions :

1st place 7 times

2nd place 7 times

They’ve also classified on the international competition level:

In 2018, they came in 3rd for the classifications for the Dance World Cup and they competed in Sitges, Spain. Because of a lack of funding, most of the team could not go to Spain to compete.

This handicap was evident when they were competing against full teams. They were only 4 dancers against troupes of up to 3 times as many dancers. Incredibly, because of their ability and commitment to dance they came in 10th place out 35, which is a great achievement!

Last year they came in 2nd at the qualifications stage but due to financial reasons were unable to compete in the Dance World Cup in Braga, Portugal . We know that they would take 1st place if they are able to compete together!

We want to give all of our teams the same opportunity and the money we receive will be spent accordingly to those whose commitment outshines the rest during this dance season.

Your financial support will go to qualification fees, travel expenses to dance competitions and with their parents already paying a large portion of costs for costumes they cannot afford to pay for specialized ensemble outfits and shoes for the girls so any finances leftover will do to improving their dance costumes.
