PNNI para-enforcers caught 2 chainsaw in Bgy.Urduja, Narra, Palawan

Update posted by Bobby Chan

VICTORIA-ANEPAHAN mountain range (VAMR) in Palawan was again the target of illegal loggers. PNNI para-enforcers caught 2 chainsaws in Bgy. Urduja, Narra, well within the VAMR area. The loggers were caught felling the most coveted Mankono or iron wood. The area is noticeably being cleared for another plantation for rubber and tropical fruits. VAMR is presently the showcase of the Palawan Counsil for Sustainable Development (PCSD) for biodiversity research but PNNI has warned that meetings and workshops do little to stop logging in the area. It is also important to question who is promoting rubber and plantations incongruent to a Last Frontier.
