Charcoal making and plantations is inside of Mount Mantalingahan Protected Landscape in Brooke's Point, Palawan

Update posted by Bobby Chan

PNNI para-enforcers return to the forests of Calasaguen, Brooke's Point to monitor the area where they were able to catch a chainsaw last year, clearing forests for a plantation. To their surprise, the area is still being cleared this time for charcoal-making and then plantations for coffee, cacao, and other fruit bearing trees. The area is inside Mount Mantalingahan Protected Landscape and was previously reported by PNNI to the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD) a year ago. The report has gone unattended obviously and raises doubt on how PCSD can spend lavishly for its upcoming anniversary when logging is rampant with no PCSD personnel in the forests.
