3rd Chemotherapy session and 1st Blood transfusion

Update posted by Nerissa Olson

Mama was finally cleared by all laboratory tests from CBC, Serum, Creatinine, SGPT, Alkaline Phosphatase, Urinalysis and X-Ray since the phlegm in her lung had lessened. We had the go signal to push through with the 3rd chemotherapy session, which was supposedly scheduled last May 21.

The 3rd cycle happened last Friday, June 7, 2019, followed by the 1st blood transfusion. The transfusion was another first for mama; a bit painful, she said, since her blood was described as "sticky" so the attending nurse had to massage her palm every now and then to facilitate the blood transfer.

Yesterday, June 11, 2019 was her scheduled shot for the Neocyte (aka immune booster). This was crucial for mama since one of the side effects of the chemo drugs is that the immune system becomes down. It also helps in getting her appetite back and she needs to eat properly to have sustenance while she is recovering.

I am thankful to Dr. Christy Abas who doesn't tire of my queries via sms, call or viber even in the wee hours of the morning.

My family and I are equally grateful to several friends, teachers, students, parents of students, and acquaintances who have reached out and shared their blessings to help us in our fight with our Mama.

Thank you very much for sharing her story. We continue to pray to the Lord that she will overcome this.

We have 3 more chemotherapy sessions and a mastectomy operation to go through.

For those who just recently read this post, I humbly ask that you share this so we may be able to reach more people in this fight for mama's health. God bless.
