A huge thank you to everyone who donated either as part of their Zakaat/Fidyah or in solidarity with our widows during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

We are delighted to confirm that we will be distributing 29 food packs to 27 widows and 2 widowers containing rice, chapati flour, oil, nuts and dates, tea, sugar, pasta, lentils, chickpeas and fruit juices to ensure their families can partake in surhoor and iftar with plenty of food.

£592.99 has been sent this morning to distribute to our widows group, our next phase (similar to our winter food packs) will involve seeking out widows in the community who are currently isolated and unknown to us by coordinating more food packs to the needy, disabled and elderly in their surrounding community*. We were able to invite 12 more widows and children using this approach last time and look to make this one of our community engagement and awareness strategies - so that widows know we are here and we care!

*Those who have already donated towards widows will be specifically for widows food packs (£730 worth of donations)
