Bouncing out of the mountains on treacherous tracks we had traversed TL north to south. We bypassed Zumbalai amidst water buffalo and scattered dwellings made of the simplest materials. Suddenly we hit the most modern super highway imaginable! Bye bye bucolic hello asphalt. Shocking contrast. Then on to the most isolated part of Suai District...until 2 hours in with continuous rain the road became impassible despite prayer and traction. Stuck! Well someone suggested look for the nearest available health post. Hello Laulala..never heard of it. What a welcome. Health education and 80 patients later our program was back on track. Gotta be flexible in this business. We gave them hope..a wonderful connection. Back to Suai village exhausted but excited. Anxious to see what tomorrow brings. (Dr. Dan)
