Mother's Day in the hospital

Update posted by Cecille Garate

Hey guys!

It's day 4 since Aaron's operation. It's not really any mother's wish and far from ideal but what's important is that all 5 of us are present and we were there to have a simple Mother’s Day celebration.

I know everyone is waiting for an update, so here it is...

The operation went well which is what we have all been praying for (thank you everyone), the mass has been taken out and apparently, there was a lot of abscess aside from the bone fragments. Now, the specimen has been sent for biopsy, results of which according to the doctors, would take about 3-4 days. It has been the 4th day but no final diagnosis yet of what caused the spinal cord compression, Pott's Disease is still the main suspect but there is some other bacterium that they saw that still needs further testing. These tests will take approximately another 2-3 weeks.

Our fight still continues as Doc Pama and Doc Justo ordered Aaron to be transferred to a solo room as he needs to be isolated to prevent getting more infection and bacteria from other people since he was staying in a semi-private room (Doc Palma advised only family members are allowed for now). Add to this, we learned last Friday afternoon that he also needs to stay two more weeks in the hospital and take an aggressive route of treatment with 2 antibiotics round the clock via IV for 10 days. Vancomycin 2x a day and Piptazo 3x a day, these can only be administered via IV to directly target the infection at the same time, make sure that his body will readily accept the surgical implants and not reject them. As advised by the doctors, these are quite costly (about Php8,000-9,000/ day) and needs to be administered ASAP. These medicines also need the signature of another Specialist just so Aaron can use them.

It's a tough time but your prayers and support (spiritually and financially) are encouraging and very much appreciated. We will be forever grateful to all of you, our heroes, who have gone out of their way to help Aaron in any which way they can.

We're all staying positive, keep on praying with us!
