ARSGA´s new members

Update posted by Nina Poletti

Today we met with four LGBTIQ youths who recently joined our organization. Two of them still live at home but their single mothers, as refugees in Uganda, are finding it very hard to provide for them and their brothers. The other two were disowned by their families and are moving from place to place in the city in look for food and shelter. Because of their economic situation, none of the four had the opportunity to complete their school education and they have no jobs.

Next week they will join our group of members who are learning computers twice a week. We will also start teaching them beading so they can sell their products together with the rest of our beading artists to gain enough money to sustain themselves. Soon we will train them in personal security and sexual health. But the most important, we would really like to help them return to school to complete their basic education. Therefore, we promised to start looking for scholarships to pay their tuition.

Please help us fund all these important activities and make the lives of LGBTIQ refugees in Uganda better and safer.
