First Rescue

Update posted by Tariq Qazi

On 30 March 2019, we made our first rescues. After raising about 150 KD through the fund raiser, we intended to rescue at least 5 animals. While there were many animals I really wish I could have rescued, it was important that the ones were rescued were diagnosed and treated immediately. After walking through the various shops, we decided to rescue 4 kittens which seemed to be weak and weren't kept in the best of conditions. The total cost of the cats, boxes and litter box cost 60 KD. The kittens were taken immediately to Dohamma Veterinary Hospital were all of them tested positive for Panleukapenia Virus. They were given antibiotics but there was no guarantee of their survival. The total cost of checkup and treatment came up to 40 KD. One of our friends agreed to foster and take care of them. We also provided food supply and litter which cost a total of 38 KD.

A couple of days later, 2 of the 4 rescued cats died due to the virus. As disheartening as it was, I am glad the other 2 seem to be doing better. They are extremely friendly and playful, and absolutely love hugs. We hope that they recover completely and we can then look to find them a loving home.

NOTE: I had also used $50 for the treatment of another injured cat, another rescue group had saved. The same cat was treated and is undergoing its recovery.

We want to Thank every one who has supported this campaign. We hope we can continue to save many more innocent animals!
