1st Chemo Session and my struggles

Update posted by Earl Joy Baton

Hi! I haven't been active here since I was so busy preparing for my 1st chemo. I had to do some blood tests, laboratory exams, take some vaccine shots, and check my heart if it's strong enough for chemo.

I got the go from my cardiologist, my heart is in perfect shape. Only problem is my HBM is at 106 per minute. Too high even when resting. So the doctor prescribed me with a maintenance drug for anti-angina (Coralan) just until my chemo sessions is over and my struggling heart, due to the tumor, will be at normal HBM.

So, last May 14 was my 1st chemo session. My chemo treatment went well, the procedure was simple. I just have to sit in a big comfortable chair while an IV is hook on me and they will administer the drugs through it. The first 3 drugs were a breeze, no problem - so fluid. But the 4th and last one was really strong. It was hot and painful as it went through my veins and has given me really terrible chills for 2 hours while it entered my system. But the true struggle began after I went out of the hospital. For 7 days now, I've been having terrible fever ranging from 38-39 degrees celsius, sometimes it causes me to hallucinate. Stomach pains and diarrhea, body pains, really bad coughing that won't go away, headache, weakness and other discomforts that may be related to the chemo drugs in my body.

I hope I get better soon. I'm generally still so weak right now. My next chemo session, will be on the 27th of May. Ironically, that's also my 29th birthday. I'm wishing it is a sign for a longer and healthier life.
