Update #1

Update posted by Alina Grad

Hi everyone. Since I started the campaign I got asked some questions and what other way of answering if not through an update to the campaign.

1. Have you been to NYC before?

Yes, I have. More than once. I actually even explained few times about my trips to NYC in my podcast. And I have also written about the experience as a volunteer in Brooklyn. I have to be honest I have a very long experience with being a volunteer - from film & music festivals to English trainer in an African country. I wrote about the one from NYC on my blog, but it is in Romanian. For those interested I can explain shortly: I have volunteered one day for GrowNYC, just because I felt like doing something different than a tourist would do. As they said I worked "at the largest compost program in the U.S. that runs entirely on renewable resources (human power or solar power), helping to compost local material that includes GrowNYC’s Greenmarkets collections, create the „black gold” that grows healthful food locally for the Red Hook neighborhood, and support the environment by recovering organics that are otherwise trucked far away."

2. When did you start your podcast?

I have started my podcast end of August last year. I actually published a bonus episode in which I am explaining more about the beginning of my podcast and why this opportunity is important.

3. What do you do for work?

I don't want to keep repeating myself, but once again I have mentioned this in one of my early episodes. I used to work as a receptionist in a hotel in Iceland, until I quit my job to figure myself out. This was coming after travelling for 8 months in South America. Trip funded by myself from my previous job: receptionist in a hostel in Iceland. It was then when I started the podcast (or actually a bit earlier than that). Now figuring myself out actually means to re-learn what keeps me motivated, what makes me happy and how to make a living out of that.

4. What do you expect from this opportunity?

Hopefully to be seen more, for my podcast to gain more followers and most importantly to inspire more people to follow their dreams. No matter the challenges.

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to get in touch with me.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

Alina :)
