Surgery update

Update posted by Alora Allison

Aaron surgery went very good, some of his burns where worse than first thought. Because of this they were not able to use the study skin, they tried really hard, the burns were just deeper than the study allowed. His left leg, no muscle involvement, the burn did go through the fat to just above his muscles. Great news Aaron now has gone from 39% open wounds on his body to 90%. The donor skin mostly came from his back and stomach, but pretty much anywhere he wasnt burnt they used. The plus with recell they are able to spray not only the graft but also the donor sites. This means it spreads up the healing. Do to the way they exsicethe skin, they inject saline under the dermis to create a smooth even area. They injected apx 900cc. This causes swelling that will go away in a day or 2. That and the surgery he is very swollen. The Doctors feel very positive about the surgery and a full recovery. It is possibly he may have to have another surgery due to the size of some of his burns. That decision is made in a week to 2 weeks. If he does not require a 2nd surgery it is very possible to be home the 1st of March. That will also include 2 weeks of in house therapy. Aaron will be in a lot of pain over the next few days. Not a perfect report but pretty dang close. Thank you for all the continued prayers, support and love
