AYA: Look Mommy, no more tubes!

Update posted by Jencel Marie Marcial-Anguluan

At last, Aya's OGT has been removed as ordered by her doctor. For a few days now, she is being fed via dropper, 35ml, and she's taking it well. She is also slowly learning how to breastfeed and is able to suckle for a few minutes on one boob then sleep. Soon, my exclusive pumping days will be over too!

Without the tapes and tube on her face, you can see her profile better. Sino'ng kamukha? She actually looks like Nate, who looks like Den. 🙄😋 And she is so active like Nate, at least 2 NICU moms (new classmates) confirmed this to me as well. One moment Aya is in the middle of the incubator, the next she is at the bottom. When Nate was a newborn, he was wiggling non-stop in his incubator until he bumped his head on it. All caught on video!

Her eye operation (injection) went well last week, and after just a few days the blood vessels are reacting to the medicine. The wriggly vessels stopped forming on the edges and the retina now has room to breathe and mature. I hope this good progress will continue so there will be no need for another injection or even laser treatment. We'll just have to wait and see. But for sure Aya will have to wear glasses (as early as next year, perhaps) to correct her vision.

I will update you again soon. Thank you for your continuous prayers and support! 💗

Love,

Mommy Jeng
