Introducing Aniye's dream team

Update posted by Noga Shanee

This is a great opportunity to introduce the group of activists that will lead this organization:

Muhtar Awadalla is a Sudanese law student at Cavendish University and a human rights activist, advocating for refugees in Uganda. His life experience starting from war-torn Darfur, and passing through Chad, Libya, Egypt, Israel and now Uganda has made him intimately understand the struggles of refugees and he is determined to help them receive equal opportunities. Mukhtar will be in charge of our legal advocacy department.

Olinga Gilbert is a Ugandan social activist who holds NGO Management degree from Cavendish University. He is the founder and executive director of another organization – Testimony Africa (http://testimonyafrica.org/) a children and women centered charity organization. He is driven by a passion to ensure that all humans are dignified, respected and afforded equal opportunity in life. Gilbert will be in charge of many of our planned projects with refugee children as well as the administrative work of running of the NGO.

Tuamzghi Teame, an Eritrean activist who passed through many countries in his search for safety. He has been a leader of Eritrean asylum seekers in Israel, helping them to organize and mobilize in demand of their legal rights. He also helped refugee community at different facilities and organized demonstrations for the Eritrean community. Tuamzghi is interested in helping refugees and asylum seekers to get status and help organizing the Eritrean refugee community in Uganda.

and me, Dr. Noga Shanee was born in Israel but chose to leave as a result of the many human rights violations taking place in her country. She has PhD in Political Ecology and has years of conservation and social activism experience. She lived in Peru for ten years as the founder of Neotropical Primate Conservation, focused on supporting community led conservation initiatives in South America. She is also the founder of the UK based organization Reclaim Conservation (www.reclaimconservation.org). Noga is the executive director of Aniye and will be in charge of overseeing all our projects and develop new initiatives.
