Recovering from Surgery

Update posted by Jerica StaRosa

Dear Friends,

CT scan was attempted on October 23, but Vanessa was not able to tolerate the oral contrast. IV contrast was contemplated but since it doesn't help much in showing the lumen of the intestines, CT scan was aborted.

Vanessa underwent emergency surgery last Thursday, October 24, supposedly to put in the Jejunostomy feeding tube. However, intra-operatively, it was found to be impossible as there was omental caking, and the intestines were plastered already, aside from the abdominal carcinomatosis the surgical team noted. Ascitic fluid amounting to 1.8 liters was drained. This gave her relief as she always felt discomfort from the heaviness of the abdomen.

She is currently recovering from the surgery and will be undergoing blood transfusion for anemia. Prayers are much needed as there is an increasing trend in her creatinine.
