Titch got shot!

Update posted by Joy Sherriff

Our beautiful kitten, Titch, went missing a couple of weeks ago. As he never leaves the garden we knew something was wrong. We found him across the road on our neighbour's land and carried him home. He seemed perfectly fine.

Yesterday we discovered a scab in the middle of his back along the spine. I thought nothing of it but later had another feel around, which made poor Titch cry. IT IS A PELLET embedded under his skin. The scab is the entry wound.

So once again, someone is shooting our cats. As Titch doesn't leave the garden, we know that the cats are being shot through our metal gates.

Another of our mogs, Dave, was shot a couple of years ago and the pellet shattered his femur. The vet said the only option was amputation but suggested leaving it and just giving painkillers, to see what happened. Dave recovered! Apparently cats can grow muscle to compensate for bone loss. He certainly did - and now has hardly a limp. Cats are amazing. He has been shot again since, in his hip, but this luckily did not cause him problems.

However, our tiny Titchells McGinty could so easily have been killed. We are so angry and frustrated. We do not know who is doing this but suspect local teenage boys. There is not a lot we can do.
