An Angel Got Her Wings Back

Update posted by Katrina Joy Lagasca

Aside from pneumonia, Stacy was also diagnosed with bacterial meningitis. Her pneumonia had been controlled, but due to bacterial meningitis, she was prescribed a medication that lasted for 21 days which prolonged her hospital stay. On September 25, she was almost ready for discharge as per advised by her attending physician. Unfortunately, we were not capable to immediately pay her expensive hospital bill. We had to find other resources and prepare her additional medical supplies at home like oxygen tank and nebulizer among others. Tube feeding and suctioning will have to continue as her risk for pneumonia is very high.

Morning of October 1, we noticed her severe weight loss. She looked a lot tinier and her skin sagged. We were planning to visit her attending physician the next day to inquire about the possibility of changing her milk and multivitamins. She seemed quiet that night, peacefully sleeping.

Until her diaper has to be changed... her aunt noticed that she is not breathing with no response at all. The doctors and nurses tried to revive her. Sadly, at 10:20pm of the same night, she was pronounced dead due to “cardiopulmonary arrest probably secondary to sudden infant death syndrome”. She died peacefully in her sleep, beautiful like an angel. It’s now her mommy’s turn to take good care of her. Finally, they are together in the loving arms of our Lord.

It was a good fight, Stacy. You were such a brave and great little fighter. Your fight, our fight, may have ended, but our love for you will remain forever.

Everyone, thank you for all your help financially, physically and spiritually. Thank you for fighting with us. May God bless you, your generous heart and your family abundantly that you will always be able to be a blessing to people in need.

P.S. Her photo was taken few days before she was readmitted in the hospital. I don’t like to post her last picture as I mentioned that she had a severe weight loss. I want us all to remember her quite chubby and pretty face.
