Fly Felice fly!

Update posted by Felice Valente

September. What an interesting month. After summer break, sliding into daily activities might carry us believing that the "transitioning" September is a short month.

Fewer warm days, fewer chilly days, and you lose yourself searching the way in the changing seasons.

So, it looks short but in the end I have run my 235km. Which is approx the distance from my house to Venice. Well, not bad indeed. New York is still far ahead in the training but getting closer in my mind.

3 long run this month. Every other Sunday for the whole month I trained 30k+30k+32k,by spacing 15/17k.

Muscles are aching, but slowing getting fit and molding for the upcoming effort.

My mental strength can achieve the 30/32, Still I have to work out more my ability to disconnect and focus on something which is not running after the 28th km.

It is going to be a long journey still.

Today I did my 3rd 30+. Slowly, steadily and focused. Completing 32km in 4.59, which is the second best time ever for a training 30+. After the one of September 2nd (4.56). Hence, I can start picturing the finish line in my brain, and shortly will solve the puzzle of how it will look like crossing the finish line in Central Park!

LEGA DEL FILO D'ORO NEW NATIONAL CENTER

In Italy, the cases of deafblindness are far more common than historically perceived. According to the results of a recent study, "The Italian people with vision and hearing problems" created by ISTAT, in collaboration with our association, there are approximately 190,000 individuals suffering from sight- or hearing- related problems, which amounts to 0.3% of the Italian population. The problems affect all age groups, including children. A hearing and visual impairment is often associated with developmental delays, and intellectual and physical disabilities. Although the Lega del Filo d'Oro has expanded its services throughout the country over the past 50 years, the association is facing increasingly complex needs.

On the one hand, cases with sensory disabilities are more severe than in the past, while on the other hand, individuals with these deficits have a high life expectancy and often outlive their parents.

While the Lega del Filo d’Oro has made an increasingly greater and more complex commitment to expand its services year after year, the wait times for treatment and the number of families seeking assistance have continued to grow.

In view of these considerations, the Lega del Filo d'Oro decided to undertake a project to construct a new National Center, a highly specialized facility for treating the deafblind.
