NTU Attack – u20s take gold medal

Update posted by Darren Whitbourne

The team continued world cup preparations by winning the NTU touch attack competition, Saturday 21 July. The competition is good preparation for drop offs as it follows a similar format. Games are played at high intensity over a shorter period. We entered two team. One team wearing white singlets, named “m8s” and the other wearing blue singlets, named “m8s 2.0”.

“M8s” narrowly missed out on the semi-finals. “M8s 2.0” progressed through to the semi finals following strong performances in pool rounds. Winning a hard-fought semi-final, the girls booked a place in the final which they won in spectacular fashion 2-1.

Skills on show were first class and some length of the field running made for exciting games. Composure under pressure was evident. On-field organisation and beating defenders one on one was refined.

Another step towards world cup. Playing under pressure and managing games continue to evolve. These will be critical elements at world cup.
