2018-0625 UPDATE

Update posted by Penny Angeles Tan

Early last night we received some good news. Dad was stable enough to move pending the instruction of Dr. Punzal, dad's pulmonologist and primary physician. We were given two options, bring him home and allow him to wait at home for the surgery schedule or wait at the hospital for the transfer to the social welfare ward.

When Dr. Punzal came by and checked in on dad he recommended that dad just stay put because if he leaves the hospital he would have to line up again and it will take time to get him a bed again. So, there you have it, folks. We are still in the same ward until further notice.

Here are the things they will do with dad:

  1. they will do an angiogram to see if he needs stents in his heart.
  2. if they confirm the need for the stents then he will have an angioplasty.
  3. next they will do general cardiac ablation. In this procedure they will insert catheters from dad's groin area (legs) all the way up to his heart and will burn away any and all blockages they will encounter along the way.
  4. and because of his advanced age the doctors feel he will have to have one more surgery after that ... atrial fibrillation ablation.

So, there you have it, folks. It looks like dad is going to be at the hospital for longer than we hoped for. Let us all pray for his health and optimism.
