Graduation Day! :-)

Update posted by Brian Andanar

Hi! I'm back again. Well here's an update regarding my activities these past few months. Last December 9, 2018, I finished my 8th chemo session. To sum it up, it went smoothly and I did not experience any adverse effects after my treatment. I only felt a bit tired when I got discharged from the hospital but that's it, no nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. I'm excited to go home because I am finally done with my chemo treatments and looked forward to spend time with my family and friends. I was very optimistic the whole month of December and I was able to enjoy moments with the people I cherish the most during the holiday season.

On the 11th of January, I was scheduled to undergo PET-CT scan. To be honest, I was kinda nervous but when I entered the room, I felt relaxed and I even fell asleep during the procedure. When it was over, the waiting game started. I prayed that hopefully the results will favor me. Four days later, the results were out. Fortunately, It was also the day of my check-up with Dr. Gorospe. I arrived early in her clinic, and when I went inside her room, I saw a big smile on her face which relieved my worries and anxieties. She said that the chemo sessions were effective and that I'm on remission. She reminded me to take care of my body and shared some inspiring words which almost made me cry. hehe I'm beyond joyful that day. I cannot explain the feeling but I'm so happy and very thankful.

My fight against cancer may be over for now, I will never know when it will comeback. All I have to do is to take care of my body, remain optimistic at all times and the most important thing, is to pray and surrender myself to God, then I know everything will be fine.

Cancer indeed is a life changing moment. I learned many lessons throughout the process. I began to appreciate all the things in life even the small ones. I also learned how to be patient and to help people who are in need. Most importantly, I started to talk to God. I realized that God is truly amazing and that he has a plan to each one of us. I was also inspired by St. Padre Pio who taught me to always "Pray, Hope and Don't Worry".

To everyone who feels down, to those who are experiencing hardships in life, and to those who are ill and are dealing with cancer, always try to stay strong, trust and pray to God.

Once again, I would like to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart. I will be forever grateful to each individual that supported me in this journey. I may not know all of you and be able to mention your names but I sincerely appreciate all the help that you gave, rest assured that all of you are in my prayers. God Bless Everyone!!
