5th Chemo Session

Update posted by Brian Andanar

Good day everyone! So far I completed 5 out of the 6 chemo sessions that was part of my treatment plan. One more to go and hopefully everything goes well. Just like the previous chemo sessions it went accordingly without any adverse reactions, however, I noticed that my veins are starting to react to the effects of chemo drugs. The doctors and nurses are having trouble inserting an iv line, but it is what it is, I guess it's part of the process and I have to endure all of it. Unlike the other post chemo sessions, I experienced the side effects 1 week after my 5th sesision. I had severe pain on both of my knees, I can hardly stand and I had episodes of fever and that prompted me to go the hospital immediately. Some routine laboratory tests were done and after a couple of hours in the hospital, the results were normal. I was given some iv and oral pain medications to relieve the discomfort on my knees and eventualy I was sent home. The next day I felt much better although there was still pain on my knees, it was tolerable. I was given another shot of iv pain medication to alleviate it. The following days were way better, the pain was gone and I was able to move freely, hopefully this would continue and I will be very extra careful from now on.

My fight against cancer is far from over but because I have God, I have my family, Claire, friends and relatives I feel and I know that I can win this one. Thanks to the nurses and doctors of Delos Santos Center. Thanks to mam Josephine and to Dr. Charity Gorospe. Thank you everyone for your support and prayers! You guys keep my spirit and strength high!
