Bone marrow results — getting there!

Update posted by Clarice Fritz Caliwatan Canonigo

Much happened over the past week. We’ve done the bone marrow aspirate after the 4th cycle and then we proceeded with the 5th right after. There has been a lot of challenges and disappointments along the way but we still count the good things that came. We got his results and it shows the leukemic cells are down to 4.81%. This is the first time we’re in the 0-5% bracket which is in the remissionbracket. This is the lowest so far (we started with 86%). The doctors would want to have it at 0% to have better bone marrow transplant outcomes but we’re happy we’re getting there. It’s still a climb though as each cycle before the transplant is no easy feat to go through. The side effects are no joke (extreme exhaustion, upset tummy, nerve sensitivities to name a few). But at least we’ve gotten through so much and we hope he’ll be healed in time. We will continue working for him to get that transplant.
