From USA to Singapore via Thetford (UK)

Update posted by Emma Ainsworth

We saw an amazing array of walks on Saturday! Thank you everyone for keeping us up to date with your walks. Please encourage your friends and family to sponsor your efforts by donating here gogetfunding.com/save-our-jidc

Here are our JIDC campaigner’s stories…

Our marvellous Marie Anna Chattaway did over 7Km in 1hr 44mins in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. Why so long you ask? 1) The heat, it was like the midday on a UK heatwave, 2) The hills, even going downhill was going uphill, 3) No jay walking allowed, Marie had to wait 5 mins to cross the road, 4) Marie got lost but it took her 2km to work this out. (Thank goodness for the map my run app or else you might have never got back to the UK Marie), 5) she started to get blisters on both feet about 4Km in, and 6) did she mention the heat and hills?! I cannot say I have seen a dedicated geese crossing point ever before either… but well done on such a good job as always!

Our glorious Gemma Langridge and her family walked 5Km in Thetford forest which is on the Norfolk/Suffolk border (UK). Their walk may have been a bit circuitous at times but then again you cannot blame her when she had two small children to herd around. Apparently they are like herding cats… If anyone did that this year please add your opinions on the matter. Gemma also tackled this wobbly bridge for JIDC – I think the bridge won but at least her nails are still perfect!

Our jolly John Wain, alongside Leo Tyrie, walked just over 6km Kelana Jaya, Singapore. They walked through the urban jungle, from Tropicana Golf & Country Resort to St Ignatious Katolic Curch and back again, with only a small drinks stop due to the 30 degree Celsius heat and matching humidity. Well done, men! I think you deserve another one of those drink stops….
