Waiting for an ICD

Update posted by TJ Trinidad and SPCP friends

Currently Aileen has been discharged and at home waiting for a device to be available at Philippine General Hospital (PGH).

In as much as we want to buy the device to fast track her operation, due to the limited supply and high demand of the the device, we would have to wait until PGH gives us a slot. At the moment a lot of people are in queu for this and cases with Fatal Arythmia ( a flat line) is being prioritized. As of today, we are still awaiting her 2D echo results to know if she qualifies as a priority patient.

Meanwhile, through help of a friend, we were able to find a doctor in UST (a private hospital) who could help Aileen get a chance for a free device.

The hospital’s committee in charge of this kind of procedure will deliberate anytime now if Aileen will get a free device (charity) and what kind of ICD will be implanted to her. UST has given her a tentative slot for the procedure this coming June 5 or 6 2018.

Should she qualify to get a free ICD, this will be a great help however the hospital fees for the procedure will be higher at UST. Although this will cost more, It is also our best chance for her to have the procedure done as soon as possible.

Your continued sharing of the link will help get more donations coming. Depends on what kind of ICD she needs, the price of the ICD alone can start from 280k to 500k. More expensive private hospitals charge 750k for this according to one of the doctor that was consulted by one of our batchmate.

We hope you could join us in prayer that UST grants her this free device so she gets the procedure done in a few weeks.

Should this be the case, donations will fund the procedure and the post procedure care and medication.

Thank you everyone for your continued support!
