Our first funded activity!

Update posted by Kobus van Zyl

I'm happy to announce that our EPANET Open Source campaign has funded its first activity: we supported one of the main contributors to the open source code, Elad Salomons, to present at the first combined WDSA/CCWI conference in Kingston, Ontario. During the conference, two main activities related to the Open Source EPANET project were conducted.

First, Elad, on behalf of the project's development committee, gave a talk about the progress of the project (paper available here). The presentation included a live demo of the new plugins framework for the EPANET GUI (screen shots of the demo are available here).

In a following session Sam Hatchett and Elad Salomons managed a 1.5 hours workshop the basics of GitHub and how to get started with the project. About 25 people attended the workshop the room was full. Participants learnt the basics of online software collaboration, connected with the EPANET development community and hopefully gained confidence in interacting with other developers.

There is still a great deal of work to do. Thus please keep supporting this worthy cause.

Thanks for your help!

Elad and Kobus
